Job Summary:

Position Summary:

Nuance is looking for an energetic, experienced senior technical writer to join our Enterprise R&D technical publications team. You will join a team of technical writers working across our global development organizations where you will agily develop and deliver accurate, high-impact technical content. Your content will help our customers be successful designing, developing, deploying, and tuning conversational AI applications including call center and mobile/web applications. Our users range from intelligent engineers and scientists to crafty application developers, business users, and call agents. Our products range from sophisticated programming libraries to advanced AI-based engines that support significant new product development efforts that make it easier for customers to build clever speech and language AI applications. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experience working hands-on developing highly technical documentation for a variety of audiences including designers, developers, business analysts, system administrators, and user-friendly documentation for less technical business users.
  • Contributing member of the team that produces documentation for Enterprise products including dialog development tooling and SDKs
  • Ability to work productively in a geographically distributed environment.
  • Familiar with modern programming languages, e.g., Java, C++, C#, python, etc.
  • Experience with MadCap Flare, Slate, or other MarkDown authoring environments.
  • Experience with GitLab source control and online documentation building and publishing workflows
  • Enjoy using tools like Camtasia and Snagit, looking for opportunities to enhance content through use of web-based media where appropriate
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment managing documentation projects while working directly with technical and marketing team members to identify requirements and schedules, and provide input on product design and usability.
  • A self-directed, fast learner that thrives working in a dynamic, startup-like culture.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to contribute to overall product success by continually analyzing content effectiveness and delivering targeted improvements
  • Perform tasks related to securing and keeping the products, tools, and processes that you are responsible for securing

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Technical Communications, Library Sciences, English, or equivalent experience

Minimum Years of Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in a dynamic software development environment

Required Skills:

  • Familiar with modern programming languages, e.g., Java, C++, C#, python, etc.
  • Experience with MadCap Flare, Slate, or other MarkDown authoring environments.
  • Experience with GitLab source control and online documentation building and publishing workflows
  • Enjoy using tools like Camtasia and Snagit, looking for opportunities to enhance content through use of web-based media where appropriate
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment managing documentation projects while working directly with technical and marketing team members to identify requirements and schedules, and provide input on product design and usability.

  • Experience authoring highly technical documentation for developers and system administrators
  • Familiar with at least one modern programming paradigm (for example, REST or WebSockets)
  • Experience with online publishing tools and workflows; experience with markdown-based authoring and/or Flare a plus
  • Ability to manage documentation projects and work directly with cross-functional team members on requirements, plans, and deliverables
  • Experience with Agile development processes
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, geographically-distributed work environment
